The difference between your goal and your mission

online-busniess-difference-mission-goal-1During a year-end planning session, I asked a group of online entrepreneurs what their goal was for the coming year. Some of the comments were:

“I want to reach women and help them gain self-confidence”

“I want to help people eat better so they can lose weight without dieting.”

The 4 M steps to change the world

online-business-4-m-steps-to-change-the-worldDo you have an important message that you want to get out there? People have told me they are finding it difficult to reach the people they want to help, so I started thinking. If that’s you, read on.

I came up with 4 “M” steps. Taken together, they are a comprehensive system for changing the world by communicating your ideas.

  1. Mission: You need to decide your goal, what you want to accomplish, how you want to make the world a better place. You need to know whom you want to help and how you help them.
  2. Message: Then you expand your mission statement into a message. Perhaps many messages, since you can’t say the same thing over and over. (People will get bored.)
  3. Media: These are your channels and you should have many. They include live speaking, webinars, social media, your blog and website, and more.
  4. Matrix: This is your system. It includes follow-up, autoresponders, products, services, events, and partnerships.
