If you have a great website, including an enticing free download, your list will grow, but slowly. This is especially true when you’re just starting out. It can be hard to get traction at first. And that’s frustrating!
So here are some ways you can speed up the process.

Ask subscribers to forward your email newsletter to others
At the top of my email newsletter, I now include this statement:
Do you know someone who could use the information in this newsletter? You probably do! Please forward this email to social entrepreneurs and solopreneurs who want to learn how to create an online business. If you received this email from a friend or colleague, sign up to get it regularly at www.changetheworldmarketing.com.
Has anyone ever forwarded an email newsletter to you? Have you ever forwarded an email newsletter that you found interesting to someone else?
A statement like this can bring you a steady stream of new subscribers.
Add lots of valuable content to your website
The more blog posts you write, the more people will find you. They’ll search for topics and one of your blog posts will show up. Once they arrive, some of them will subscribe to your newsletter.
You can put a statement at the bottom of each post, inviting readers to subscribe.Look at the bottom of this post to see one that I use. For this box, I use a WordPress plug-in called bottom of Every Post.

Search Engine Optimization is the art and science of using keywords in your content to match what people are looking for. It’s a big topic, so here I’ll just refer you to some other articles I’ve written on SEO.

SEO doesn’t bring immediate results, but over time it can be very powerful. A long time ago, on my EllenFinkelstein.com website I chose keywords of “PowerPoint tips” and I put those words in all of my image names, alt tags, and more. Over time, this has been very successful, bringing me over 100,000 visitors per month, 80% of which are from organic search.
