How do I get started with a plan to make $1000 per month online?

online-business-how-do-i-get-startedA few months ago I did a survey of my subscribers. I do this every couple of years because it helps me know what they need. It also gives me LOTS of topics for blog posts in which I answer the questions and concerns raised in the survey.

A number of issues were from people just starting out. Here are some examples:

  • “Help me to write a landing page for at least one service or product to get me started.”
  • “Help me make a plan with specific steps to generate $1000 per month and what I would need to do to accomplish this. I am suffering from overwhelm and can’t make the right steps.”
  • “What are my first five action steps to get my business started?”
  • “If I start small, where would be best? I am trying to create content from my book to market that stuff first and build a platform so that when my book comes out, I will have a following.”
  • “What is the one most popular/ profitable/ easiest to produce / easiest to market product or service for a beginner to start with?”
  • “Help me create a sales page for virtual assistant work to get me started.”

Can you feel the frustration and confusion?

October is Professional Independence month

online-business-october-independence-month-1Would you like to become independent?

By that I mean working for yourself or owning your own company.

A company called CareerRealism has announced that October is Professional Independence month. OK, it’s probably just a publicity gimmick, but there are LOTS of people out there who would like to quit their job and have their own business.

Are you one of them?

Do you have a plan?

A recent study showed that by 2020, 50% of American workers could be independent contractors, whether by choice or not. That means that you probably need to learn how to run your own business. Scary? Maybe, but independent contractors have higher rates of career satisfaction.

If that’s what you want (and maybe even if you don’t), you need to plan. Are you ready now? If you don’t have much money saved up, you need to start your business on a part-time basis and grow it until it can support you.

Doubt and fear-the 2 killers of success

How important is self-confidence to success?

Does self-confidence lead to success or does success lead to self-confidence? That’s a harder question to answer. But from what I’ve read, all studies have shown a relationship between self-confidence and success.

online-business-doubt-fear-success-2Doubt and fear are the opposite of self-confidence

When you doubt, you aren’t sure which direction to go in, so you don’t act. Symptoms are:

  • Procrastination
  • Taking lots of courses but never taking action
  • Taking a long time to complete anything
  • Perfectionism

Fear leads to similar symptoms:

  • Doing nothing because you’re afraid of doing the wrong thing
  • Staying small because you’re afraid of wide exposure
  • Working alone because you’re afraid of rejection

It’s pretty obvious that success will lead to self-confidence, but you can’t succeed if you don’t take action.

online-business-grow-your-online-business-wrap-1That’s a wrap!

In this 30-lesson course, I gave you a huge amount of knowledge about how to grow your online business.

Week 1: I covered how to make your website rock. Your website is the foundation of your online business, so you need to get it right.

Week 2: You got techniques for growing your email and social media lists, because the larger and more responsive your list, the more people you’ll be able to reach — and help — and the more money you’ll make.

Week 3: I discussed how to create products. I specialize in helping people like you who have service-based businesses, people who are trying to help other people, to add products. That means I can help you:

  • Expand beyond being a local business so you can reach people nationally and internationally, thus helping many more people
  • Create new streams of income that are more passive, so that you have more flexibility with your time. This allows you to spend more time with your family, travel, and just decide when you do what (How does that sound to you?)

Week 4: You learned how you can use events and partnerships to vastly grow your business.

Why coaching works

Research has shown that when people have someone to hold them accountable (about any goal), they are much more likely to succeed. Moreover, coaching will help you avoid pitfalls and ineffective choices (I know, I’ve made many of those) so that you progress much more quickly.
